Additive synthesis is a sound synthesis technique that creates timbre by adding sine waves together. The timbre of musical instruments can be considered to consist of multiple harmonic or inharmonic partials or overtones. VirSyn has an established track record of products such as CUBE and POSEIDON, aimed at making this synthesis method more accessible for sound designers and musicians. AddStation represents a significant advancement, providing a tool for exploring new sonic possibilities. The extensive use of sine waves in AddStation - with thousands per voice - in conjunction with unique morph sequencing blocks, blurs the boundaries between analog and digital sound realms.
